the sixth annual “Day of Stuffing” will be held at the Kroger store located at 801 W. Lake Ave. in Peoria. Part of the Stuff-A-Bus food drive, this event is held to encourage donations for the 32nd annual campaign that benefits the food pantry at the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service.

The public is asked to bring donations, or purchase items at Kroger, and place the items on the classic 1975 CityLink bus. Several area businesses and organizations that have hosted food drives at their offices to benefit Stuff-A-Bus are invited to drop off their donations that day.

Representatives from CityLink, the Peoria Friendship House, the Amalgamated Transit Union #416 and other volunteers will be at the store beginning at 6:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the day until 6:00 p.m., accepting food donations.  Donated items will be loaded on to the classic GP Transit (CityLink) bus in hopes of making a significant contribution to this year’s goal of collecting 11 tons of food.

Here’s how people can help fill the bus:

WMBD will broadcast live from the Kroger store during the day’s newscasts.  Updates on the event will be provided throughout the day on the Peoria Cumulus radio stations (97.3 NASH-FM, 105.7 the X Rocks, 95.5 GLO and Peoria’s 92.3) and on the official Stuff-A-Bus Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stuffabuspeoria) and @CityLinkPeoria on Twitter using the hashtag#StuffABusPeoria.

Peoria Chiefs’ mascot, Homer, will also make a special appearance from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
